SDM Institute of Technology (SDMIT) is aimed at imparting quality education blended with traditional values to ensure holistic development of its students. Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, the motivational force behind all the ventures initiated by SDM Educational Society, believes that socio-economic development of the rural community can happen only through education. Keeping this in mind, SDM Institute of Technology chose a rural area to locate itself and was founded in 2007 at Ujire, which is about 65kms away from Mangalore and just a short distance of 8kms from the renowned temple town of Dharmasthala.

The Institute offers BE courses in Computer Science, Information Science, Electronics & Communication, Electrical & Electronics, Mechanical and Civil Engineering branches. The college also has university recognized Research Centers in 6 departments to pursue PhD degree.

The college is situated in lush green campus spread across 30 acres of land surrounded by Western Ghats. A disciplined and ragging free study environment, along with enjoyable campus life, is ensured.
